Si, there are Latinos in Alaska! My name is Indra Arriaga Delgado. I’m a Mexican multidisciplinary artist living and working in Alaska. In 2019 I was very fortunate to be awarded a grant from Latino Public Broadcasting(LPB)/PBS to make a short (20 min) documentary called “Sabor Ártico: Latinos en Alaska” (Arctic Flavor: Latinos in Alaska). Latinos have contributed to the cultural, social, and economic development of Alaska for a very long time. Sabor Ártico provides a unique and important opportunity for community members to speak about their experiences in Alaska and how their food and culture is being redefined. This project is important to me personally and professionally because it allows me to bring a part of the community and Alaska to national audiences via the LPB/PBS platform. I have been working with an incredible production team; we’ve been working very hard and we are very near the finish line. I need your help today so that Sabor Ártico can be delivered to the LPB/PBS platform this Fall. |
What We Need & What You Get
I need to raise $10,000 to call it a wrap!
Sabor Ártico is a $40,000 production. I have secured $30,000 or 75% of funds. Funds thus far have been used cover productions costs (crew, general liability insurance, location shoots, music royalties, graphic design, and some editing, etc.). The $10,000 will cover Errors & Omissions insurance, postproduction costs such as printing costs, DVD productions, web design, final editing, project management, and translation costs.
There is no contribution too small. I am grateful for it all! And, I would like to thank you for your help and contribution in the following ways:

If the $10,000 goal is not reached, Indiegogo allows projects to keep raised funds; so you can be assured all funds will go to the Sabor Ártico production no matter what.
The Impact
I invite you to join me and the Sabor Ártico team to make history! Sabor Ártico is the first project, and I am the first Latinx filmmaker funded by LPB in Alaska. I can’t express how excited I am to bring Sabor Ártico to the lower 48 and beyond. I am hopeful that Sabor Ártico will open doors for other artists and contributors, just as it has for me.
Risks & Challenges
Sabor Ártico is very close to being finished. The risk that it won’t be completed is almost nonexistent; but the challenge to get it to the LPB/PBS on time (October 15, 2021) is real. IF, I am not able to raise the funds to deliver Sabor Ártico by the deadline, then it will be delayed and could miss airing and festival distribution opportunities. I have a track record of delivering on complex projects, finding creative solutions, and if needed, working around the clock. I am 100% committed to Sabor Ártico, and I am prepared to work tirelessly towards its completion and success.
