Manifesto by Julian Rosefeldt
Julian Rosefeldt produced and directed Manifesto, an Australian-German production that is both a video installation and a film starring the incomparable Cate Blanchett.
Manifesto creates a philosophical narrative about art and its role in society using dozens of manifestos written by thinkers, artists, philosophers, architects, dancers, and filmmakers. Their words are brought together in a collage and artwork of its own to express sentiments on, and question, the current state of the human condition, in particular the current economic and political unfurling that escalate quickly via new modes of communication and leave the individual stranded in despair and communities on an entropic spiral.
